When i say old movie stars i mean from the forty's fifties or sixties or all of the above.
STAR OF THE MONTH GOES TO.......(drum roll)
DORIS DAY!!!!
I have been a fan of DORIS DAY since i was a kid, there isn't one movie i haven't seen of her i own 27 of her movies out of 30 something films she has ever made. I don't know why but her voice and her beauty will never be touched. When she sings its so hard not to feel the emotions of the words she sings, and smile when she sings a happy tune.
Every time i watch her musical films i sit in my bed like a little child giggling, and smiling, her presence on the screen never ceases to fail me. I have a few Highest favorites and many favorites.
Here are my Highest Favorites:
The Glass Bottom Boat (1966)- A "Spy" comedy/ love story is when Miss Day is suspected a spy she tries to clear her name in this madcap comedy!
Romance On The High Seas (1948)- Day's First Film ever made, she gets involved in a scheme with a woman who pretends to be on a cruise, to spy on her husband, while Day pretending to be the woman falls in love with the PI hired by the woman's husband to spy of his wife. a beautiful Romantic Comedy with music is a joy to watch.
My Dream is Yours (1949)- Third Film, she is a mother who has a dream of being a singing sensation and finally comes true when she meets an agent who falls in love with her and her voice. She falls in love with a hotheaded Singer who thinks he can do the business without the agent, but drinking gets in his way.
With Six You Get Egg Roll (1968)- Miss Day's Last feature film roll, she is a single mother of 3 boys, and she meets after many years after her husbands death, a single widower father of one headstrong daughter. The two try bringing in two different family and become one. you get the gist
The Pajama Game (1957)- A Brilliant Musical, never have i seen, the dances, the music, the acting has never been anything like this movie, A Pajama Factory where all the workers are about to go on strike, as one man tries to solve the problem and find a win-win solutions. Doris Day Plays the Female Lead of course.
Love Me Or Leave Me (1955)- A Bio Film based on the life of singer, who tries to break free from the man who gave her a career at great cost. Songs from this film are so strong with emotions, It was her first Drama Film and i think she she did a brilliant job.
The Man Who Knew To Much (1955)- Alfred Hitchcock Film, of course it has suspense and drama in it, but it also had Doris Day's Presence she is the greatest American actress of all time, she is a mother of a kidnapped child. As both Mother and Father are searching for their son, they first must save a man from the kidnappers, so at the risk of losing their child's life they do. and they reunite with there child. Day's Signature Song " Que Sera, Sera (whatever will be)" was from this film.
I recommend you watch these films you get rent them on DVD or even buy them on DVD in stores available every where.
